Big Thangs
Well here is the first big thang...katrina. Now if you're a freshman to my blog you wouldn't know that last year at this time I was posting like erre week bout a new hurricane. Thjis is the price we pay down here in coastal cities. The weather may be beautiful 90% of the year. You may be able to make a 15 minute drive to the beach any given day. But from now till the end of September folks can be on pins and needles watching these massive storms form. It comes with the territory. My sister in law was actually in New Orleans and had no clue on Saturday morning that a high category storm was headed right towards her vacation til my mother called her and let her know what time it is. Here in Savannah people are lax in their attitude towards these storms. There're like "Oh we aint had one hit us directly in 100 years." Yeah aaight then. Do know that the minute I see one of these headed to my part of the swamp I'm the F*ck outta here with the swiftness. My prayers and blessings go out to the folks in LA and surrounding areas. Yesterday I thought I would never see New Orleans. Today I pray for the best for them.

We have officially got Star & Buckwild's morning show aring here in Savannah. How surprised I was to listen to the radio this morning hearing.."Nigga" and some crude abortion skit on the morning radio on my way to an early workday. I can't say I found it funny and actually I just may have grown out of them fools show. Mind you I was a faithful listener as a NYC'er...busting a gut in the morning was definitely on the agenda…but now I dunno. Ask me in a week.

This weekend I co-host my first radio show. Thanks Gentle Aura (<--click that!) and Renazance (<--click that!)for eggin me on to do that. If your in the Savannah area and given Saturday at 11pm and your not in the club and you wanna listen to some not necessarily mainstream hip-hop, check us out on WHCJ 90.3 (which is the station for Savannah State). It's a baby thang. We aren’t as fly as Gentle Aura's station (with a live web cast). But we doin thangs. Check Gentle out with Jow Rizla and Trini any given Saturday am…like 2 AM Dunn @ CKLN (<--click that!). If you’re your in need of that soulful house it's a must! But yeah I spent all day Sunday digging in the crates so to speak, I had a blast though I didn't even listen to myself cause I cringe at the sound of my voice. This week I admitted I’m a Kanye convert on the show...

WTF. This is what went down at a Kanye West, Common and John Legend...GET THIS... "G.O.O.D. Music", pre VMA party. In all the irony, Suge get's shot. I though I was trippin when I saw it on the news ticker last night while watching the storm coverage. This fool should not be invited to yo sh!t if you want to keep ish from becoming a stampede. Dang that fool ain’t nuthin but trouble...

Fat Joe. So with Suge getting shot the night before the awards why does Fat Joe and 50 get into their beef at the awards the next day. Real reminiscent of what went down at Vibe Awards earlier this year between Knight's camp and Dr. Dre and the G Unit. Oh again the irony. Actually *snif* snif* I smell a whole lotta dog *ish and potentially conspiracy theories. But really what kinda bullshit is this. I mean it's been 9 years since Pac and Big were killed...I repeat

Interestingly enough, I was just talking to my ol' roommate about 50 and how I was thinking earlier this week that fool 50 gon' end up shot nevertheless how much he is HOT GARBAGE. Bronx Queens beef…I just don't understand it. I pray we don't re-live and the destruction that came from the same type of beef almost 10 years ago doesn’t re-emerge. "Self Destruction"..folks need to remake that Hip-Hop classic! That's the problems I have with hip-hop these days. Just a lot of glorification of some bullshit. Where are the emcees that have a voice and really would rather heads get a grip? Yeah I wanna hear a remake of "self destruction" with Common, Eve, Dead Prez, Luda, Twista, T.I., Beans, Styles, Jada, Talib, Meth, Jean Grae, Jada, Roots, Pharell, Missy, Bow Wow, and who the fuck ever is down to spit some ®EVOLUTIONARY progressive sh!t! When will hip-hop grow up?

Tomorrow is surgery day for me. I'm kinda antsy to get it over with. A little nervous and hoping for the best. Say a lil prayer for me, por favor.
