Marathon Grrrl
I have managed to run consistently for 2 months or so.
3-4 days a week faithfully. 3 miles a day now.
When I started I was barely doing 2 miles in 47 minutes. Talk about outta shape and definately outta breath. Now I've made it to 3 miles in 34 minutes and change without discomfort. (Watching Serena play tennis was inspiring today ;-) I've managed to run beyond the shin splints, cramps and burning legs. My goal is 3 miles in 30 minutes (or less). A couple of weeks ago I was doing a mile in 14 minutes plus. I've shaved my time down to 11 minutes. WOOO HOOO! I'm catchin up Omi on that mile in 10. =P
I use to run...away from life, my problems, my fears, myself. I ran to Cali, Seattle, North Cakalaka, New Jersey, Conneticut, Upstate NY, Georgia. Run, run, run nigga run. I don't think I thought much about what I was running to, which was the same ish I was running from. But I'll tell ya give me a year in one place and I got that itch...time to bounce. Savannah has been my home for 3 years straight, a new record. Now don't get it twisted. I'm kinda burnt out with Savannah, just kinda country here. And I am ready to run, but a different kind of run. Like I do on the treadmill. Pacing myself, in a stride with a soundtrack and a goal. The next time I get to running I'm trying to win the race.
