Remember this kid?
Yo,
The Fabulous Chi-Ali is running 34 jacks on amazon. Woa!
It's a shame to see a young cat that during that time had a lot going for him to just wreck his life for some CD's and a couple of bucks. Hip-Hop has just gone amuck in a lot of ways. Who EVER told Loyd Banks he could friggin' rap???? Oh comon man, basura! Who gave that dude a deal? Who decided he should be played on the radio? Speaking of radio, why when I just accidentally turned the thing on in my car yesterday the lunchtime question on the local ghetto station was “how long should a female wait to go to the club after she gave birth?” And whats clowning was the first caller response was 6 weeks “that is enough time to heal, cuz a girl gotta do her thang.” LAWDHAVEMERSAY! My instant reflex made me turn that crap off.
But hip-hip has it's moments still that keep be believing in it. I don't know that I believed as a kid pop-lockin in my hallways, that I would be almost 30 still feelin' hip-hop like the day I first heard it as I’m jamming to my lil playlist (only naming a recognizable few). Just pining over memories of when life was much simpler. It was me, NYC, my music and a token to find the day. *AHH*
Summer of '91 through to summer '92 was off the Richter. My favorite year in life was '92. The world was amazing with not a one barrier to me, with 17 yr old eyes. I remember what that felt like. *smile* I hope to feel something like that again one day. I’ll settle for the memory for now.
Anywhoo, I just finished writing my letter of resignation.
I'm elated. Can you tell?
