BAD BOREDOM

How I see it, there is good boredom and bad boredom. Good boredom is a lazy Saturday with a clean house and no major projects to give attention to. Its when its 2 in the afternoon and my cell hasn't rung. No friends are looming with issues to talk through and my mother needs nothing from me. My daughter is with grandma or at a friends. My dog is relaxed and fulfilled. Days where life is just quiet and soothing, where I can lay on my bed and stare at the ceiling. This is good boredom, a time where the environment cultivates ease and peace. THEN there's BAD boredom. Its an anxiousness that can't be pin pointed. Where life become routine, monotonous and predictable. Where most opportunities and newness has been extracted. Where my employment becomes a chore and poses no challenges. Where there is no new arrangement for my furniture. Where my future blends into the seconds and minutes. Where you get the same calls from the same people talking the same *ish. Where there isn't one restaurant that calls my taste buds. Where the newness and unpredictable elude me. Bad boredom is the kiss of death almost. It is a precursor to change. Its my hint that I must create a change before the change stalks me in the midst of my predictable comfort. I HATE THIS SORT OF BOREDOM. It stirs haste within me like an itch I refuse to stop scratching. These days I face this undesirable boredom. Where I feel my progress thwarted because of the lack there of new challenges, new experiences and the evolution of my growth lacks nutrients. Like over worked farmland that yields no more. But I have come to learn that bad boredom is just a sign. Its an indicator that life will make a 180 degree turn in another direction. I've learned to embrace bad boredom. In the bad boredom I know there is much abreast that will have me refreshed. I know that I'm not the only one experiencing this feeling. It will be interesting to watch my friends and family and see how their bad boredom mutates.
